Dr. Julia Agapov, MD, DO, is the Regional Medical Director and a board-certified Ophthalmologist/Glaucoma Surgeon at SSM Health Davis Duehr Dean Eye Care. With a wealth of experience, Dr. Agapov performs an average of 700-800 ophthalmology surgeries annually. She obtained both her undergraduate and medical degrees from the Russian State Medical University. Upon moving to the US, she earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her internship at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, and her residency at the Metro Health Hospital (a Michigan State University Consortium) in Grand Rapids, MI. Dr. Agapov furthered her expertise by completing a fellowship in glaucoma at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN. She specializes in the treatment of glaucoma and is skilled in performing cataract surgery, glaucoma surgeries, and complex anterior segment surgeries. Dr. Agapov is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Glaucoma Society, and the American Osteopathic College of Ophthalmology.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Agapov is actively involved in the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology (AOCOO-HNS), where she serves as a distinguished member of the Board of Governors and contributes her expertise to various committees. In 2018, Dr. Agapov assumed the role of Ophthalmology Course Director, showcasing her dedication to advancing education in the field. Notably, Dr. Agapov is deeply committed to humanitarian efforts. She participates in annual surgical missions to provide eye care in underserved regions, particularly in Honduras and Nicaragua, as a vital part of the team. This reflects her passion for elevating ophthalmic care standards and making a positive impact on global eye health. |
