Eunice Kohara, D.O. grew up in southern California. You may pick up on her relaxed, down-to-earth, warm character as soon as you meet her.

She received her medical degree from Touro University California, College of Osteopathic Medicine. She went on to complete her Ophthalmology Residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital / Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, where she also served as chief resident. She then continued her education with a Pediatric Ophthalmology fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

She is a board-certified Ophthalmologist specializing in medical and surgical treatment of childhood eye conditions and strabismus in children and adults. Dr. Kohara sees many children with special needs, including Autism, Down syndrome and other genetic disorders.

Dr. Douglas C. Kubek is board-certified in otolaryngology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, and sleep medicine. He specializes in diseases of the sinuses and performs complex sinus surgeries on adults and children. Dr. Kubek was in the first group of surgeons trained in balloon sinuplasty in 2005. Additionally, he is recognized as an expert in reconstruction of skin cancer defects and performs plastic and cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Kubek is one of only three board-certified sleep medicine surgeons in the metropolitan Detroit area. He has served on the national advisory board for the American Academy of Otolaryngology’s sleep medicine section. Dr. Kubek provides treatment for snoring and sleep apnea.

Dr. Kubek is committed to academic medicine and serves as director for the Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery Residency Program at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. He is an associate professor of surgery at Michigan State University and holds clinical professor positions at four medical schools. Dr. Kubek is a graduate of Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency through the St. John Health System-Michigan State University.

Dr. Kubek has been selected by his peers as an Hour Detroit Magazine Top Doc for 8 consecutive years. In addition, he has been voted by his patients as a winner of the Compassionate Doctor Award, Top 10 Doctor Award and Patient Choice Award through Vitals. Dr. Maningas is a native of Joplin, MO, who attended College Heights Christian School from 1998-2002. He then did his basic undergraduate studies at Missouri Southern State University prior to transferring to Oklahoma State University where he obtained his Bachelors of Science degree graduating with Presidential Honors in 2006.
He went on to earn his medical degree in 2010 from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, graduating with Magna Cum Laude honors (top 5% of the graduating medical class). During medical school, Dr. Maningas took the extra initiative to achieve his Master of Business Administration with a focus on healthcare leadership from the prestigious Rockhurst Helberg School of Management in Kansas City, MO.
He completed his post doctoral residency training in Head and Neck Surgery/Facial Plastics and Reconstruction through Oklahoma State University and Freeman Health Systems in 2015. Finally, prior to returning to Joplin, Dr. Maningas completed an additional year of advanced surgical fellowship training through the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery with nationally renowned cosmetic and facial plastic surgeons Drs. Chad Deal and Carey Nease at Southern Surgical Arts in Chattanooga, TN where he participated in over 1,200 cosmetic surgical procedures. Dr. Maningas is certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Osteopathic Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
Dr. Maningas has been married to his wife Aimee for 12 years. The two met in high school and currently have three children - Isabella, Juliette, and Nixon. As a family, they enjoy any outdoor activity together, especially going to the lake where the kids are avid wake-boarders. Dr. Maningas personally enjoys cross fit training when time allows.
